Depression Era Collectible Elegant Glass Westmoreland Vintage Footed Candy Jar c.1920's Hand painted and decorated with enamel rose and leaf pattern and the edges are trimmed in gold. Candy Dish has a recessed panel design #1700-1. Excellent vintage condition. Glass is clear but there are ting air bubbles within the glass which is typical considering its age/production era. Colors are bright, and hand painted flowers are not worn thin or chipped. No chips or cracks on glass. Bottom of base is pristine. There is minor wear on some of the gold trim but it does not affect the appearance and is not very noticeable.
This piece is easily confused with Heisey's Candy and Lid. Finials on Heisey lids are almost exactly the same as the Westmoreland finial. The decorations help to identify the maker, using a book on Westmoreland glass I confirmed this piece to be made by them. The 1700 Line candy is usually mislabeled as Heisey, so look for shape and decorations to help identify the maker. Reference used for identification is "Westmoreland Glass, Volume 3 1888-1940".
Scented with Rose fragrance oil. A sensuous blend of rose and velvety sweetness. Rosebuds are surrounded by delicate green tones to captivate the senses. A cloud of vanilla surrounds the floralcy.
